When everything isn’t enough

“She’s so lucky… If there’s nothing missing in her life, then why do these tears come at night?”

Lucky – Britney Spears

You know your life looks amazing. You know your life is amazing.

You know you should be grateful.

So why doesn’t it feel enough?

Why does it feel that something’s missing? A little bit empty?

Dropping a couple of hundred quid in Harvey Nicks or on an online spending splurge isn’t really doing it for you anymore (well, obvs, you still want to do that, but you don’t quite get the kick you used to).

Likewise, the fab boutique hotel weekend breaks – fun, luxurious and enviable.

But you’re not entirely fulfilled (and a baby’s either out of the question or not the answer you’re looking for).

Maybe you need a pet – Cockapoos are pretty cute.

Or a hobby – you always fancied a tennis wardrobe.

Or perhaps volunteering or sitting on a board of a charity (what does that mean, exactly? It sounds cool. (Note to self: Google ‘NED’)

The fact is that any one – or all – of these things may be the thing that stops the (mostly) metaphorical tears from coming at night. But you won’t know until you press pause on your busy life for a minute and take a good look at your heart’s true desires. Going deep within and questioning what it is that you want. Really want.

And sometimes, you’ll think you know what you want, try it and realise that it’s not for you. And that’s okay – experimentation is a part of the process – if you try tennis and hate it, at least you’ll have a great outfit to wear at that Wimbledon-themed fancy dress party next summer.

And sometimes you’ll discover that “Yes! That’s what was missing!” – but that you’d actually quite like that Cockapoo too.

Or – and this is what holds a lot of women back from changing one area of their lives – you’ll start a chain reaction and realise that it’s not that you need to add things to your life, but that you need to redesign it completely.

Just because you’re already lucky doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve to be even luckier.

I know a lot of us were brought up to be “grateful for what you’ve got” – and gratitude for what you already have is essential if you want to be happy – but that doesn’t mean that you don’t also get to have something more or something different. Or something more and something different.

This is your life and you get to choose what it looks like – in all areas. You’re in the driving seat – where do you want to go?

Ready to press pause for a moment and explore designing a life that lights you up from within?

When you coach with me, we’ll uncover what it is that you want to fill your life – and your heart – with, and then identify the thoughts that are, or have been, holding you back from achieving that.

We’ll then create a road map with actions to ensure that your goal comes to life.
